Description: Teaching of college courses, writing, consulting, crafting messages on the overpopulation issue. Professors, NGO;s and activists are welcome to invite Karen to give lectures, keynote speeches or participate in think tanks on this critical issue.
Qualifications: Karen has been writing and speaking about this tricky but essential topic for over 25 years. Her articles have been published in the Forum papers of Negative Population Growth and in Free Inquiry Magazine. Her book, “Move Upstream a Call to Solve Overpopulation “ ( Freethought House Press, 2015) has had world wide appeal. Her reach extends to England, Belgium and Israel. See her various talks on the TALKS tab.
Fees varies according to project.
GOLF COURSE CERTIFICATION
for Audubon International’s Cooperative Sanctuary Program
Description:
Water testing and assistance with qualifying for certification and re-certification for the Audubon International Cooperative Sanctuary for Golf Courses.
Qualifications: Karen has been a steward for Audubon International since 2003. She has helped over a dozen courses with their certification including Dwan Golf Course in Bloomington, Minnesota ; Braemar Golf Course in Edina Minnesota and Minekahda Golf course in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She has conducted water testing and has been a natural resources consultant to help golf course managers complete their certification.
Fees: $500.00 per season of assistance for private courses, $250.00 per season for public courses
Cost covers multiple visits. water testing, helping with wildlife counts, filling out certification forms and consulting on projects.
SO YOU WANT TO BE A WRITER
Description: Karen will help with issues relating to becoming an author. Topics include: message writing for children and adults. How to find a publisher, how to self publish and how to do promotions.
Qualifications: Karen has been a published author since 1991. She has been with 5 publishers and has self published as well ( see BOOKS tab). She has been a solo author and a co-author. She writes children’s books as well as books for adult readers.
Fees: $50.00 per hour for private session, $100.00 per public talk plus mileage over 25 miles from Bloomington, Minnesota.
NATURE CENTER DESIGN
Description: Help with the designing of nature centers so that the structures fully support programming.
Qualifications: Karen worked at nature centers for 35 years. She was the director of the City of Richfield’s Wood Lake Nature Center for almost 28 years before retiring at the end of 2019.
Her experience as a programmer and director make her voice of value when new buildings are planned. Architects are often most familiar with products and green construction but not how a building can best facilitate programming and staff needs in this unique structure.
Fees are negotiable depending upon project and hours required.
