If Trees Could Vote

I want to send a bill to Washington

That will allow trees to vote

And birds to cast their ballots

The fine print will allow bees

their choice for insect justice;

a world with enough poison-free flowers.

Let the wild rivers splash

and the clouds rain down on the proper box to check

So they too can live uninterrupted lives

While the wild and not so free four-leggeds

Head to their voting booths

To scratch in their favorite choice

For a leader who will take into consideration

Their rights for a change.
